Unrelated note, upgrade of El Capitan went flawlessly with my other two Macs which are less used. I can still launch applications using keyboard shortcuts, and spotlight search to open the ones I use while I wait for a while for the dock to complete loading. Tried re-installing El Capitan again through new download. Tried the killdock command, just resets the sequence but dock is still frozen (as I type this). I since turned it off, thinking perhaps it may have something to do with it. History: rMBP 2012.5 (first edition) Updated to El Capitan with filevault on. The mission control (F3, F4) keys also cease to function during the freeze. If I can get the applications open, it works for a few seconds, then that freezes same as when the dock freezes and is inaccessible. After that all is normal until I shutdown the laptop and start again. I had no issues with Yosemite, after updating to El Capitan the dock loads quickly then freezes and cannot be used sometimes for hours, sometimes after 30 minutes. ![]()
